![]() ![]() I also have a pair of the newer zoom reflectors.Īs soon as I get my studio space back together I will put them through a good pace and report what I find. I now have a pair of D1 1000 monoblocs with the standard flat glass covers (diffused) as well as the optional glass domes (also diffused). If you end up with a D1 and either zoom reflector, PLEASE report back and let us know your thoughts! I know that the light doesn't come shooting out of the D1 in a beam I am thinking that the zoom reflectors are still effective without a dome installed. Of course, the domes are certainly not required to use the grids. Yes, domes, a bit of a hidden cost, IF they are necessary. Zoom Reflector 2 I guess better option for grids. Thanks aphexafx! I was thinking the same - buy glass domes, and just use all Profoto accessories as I would with other Profoto heads. However, the Grid Reflectors are less featured (zoom range) than the Zoom Reflectors, I think. I wanted to add that another option is to get a Grid Reflector, which will enable you to use third-party grids with your Profoto heads, including the D1 series. If someone could comment on that last point it would be very helpful. Another option is to use the newer Zoom Reflector 2 which will take grids directly without a grid/filter holder.Īs far as I know, the D1 monolights will work fairly well with either Zoom Reflector, however a D1 glass dome may be required to take full advantage and produce the same light as a Zoom Reflector would on any other Profoto Head, where the bulbs extend beyond the chassis. ![]() The standard zoom reflector is one option, and it would require the grid/filter holder as well as a grid. ![]() In order to use Profoto grids with a D1 (any model), you would require a reflector that has a grid option. I'm going to buy D1 and still a bit confused about built in reflector in D1.ĭo I need to buy zoom reflector in order to use it for example, with grids?Īs far as I know, there are no Profoto grids specifically for the D1 series of monolights. ![]()
